Derived from the health contingency caused by COVID-19, The Guanajuato International Film Festival (GIFF), one of the large-format events in the state of Guanajuato, will hold its XXIII edition from September 18th to the 27th, 2020, in San Miguel de Allende and Guanajuato City, World Heritage Cities.
This Festival is restructured abiding by the health protocols dictated by the pertinent instances with the aim of guaranteeing the integrity of the attendees and offering an event that lives up to expectations.
The Secretary of Tourism of the state of Guanajuato supports the organization of a great event that promotes and fosters film culture and that, in each edition, attracts more than 100,000 attendees.
For one week a year, the International Film Festival honors emblematic spaces such as the Stairs of the University of Guanajuato, the Cervantes and Principal theaters, the Alhóndiga de Granaditas, the majestic Juárez Theater of Guanajuato capital; as well as the Main Garden, Fine Arts, and the Santa Ana and Angela Peralta theaters in San Miguel de Allende for various cultural, educational and healthy entertainment activities.
As part of the strategies, the GIFF announced the creation of two Drive-In Cinemas and PickNic Cinema in which the official selection will be screened in a festive atmosphere, fast food, on skates and other amenities that will transport the film buff to the era of movies such as “Grease.”
The GIFF is in negotiations with various platforms for the online broadcast of the programming, also the GIFFTV platform will expand its coverage of Festival events, so it is announced that the masterclasses, discussion panels, conferences and press conferences will be broadcast online to reach a larger audience.
