Kuali/San Miguel de Allende, Gto.- For extorting the owner of a butcher shop in the municipality of San Miguel de Allende, the Attorney General’s Office of Guanajuato (FGEG) obtained a prison sentence for Juan Carlos “N”, for the crime of aggravated extortion.

In August 2022, the victim received threatening calls and messages from unknown numbers, where they demanded an amount of several thousand pesos, in exchange for not harming his family.

The aggrieved continued to receive threats constantly without responding to them, until the end of the month that he was alone in his establishment, and the accused arrived to ask him for the payment, giving him a deadline of one day to have the cash, while showing a firearm that he carried on his waist.

Fearing that he could fulfill his threat, the victim filed the corresponding complaint before the Public Ministry, for which, the Specialized Unit in Combating Extortion, with precise information deployed an operation to finalize his arrest.

The detainee was taken before a judge, who linked him to a criminal process for the crime of aggravated extortion. Once the complementary investigation was concluded and before the oral trial, Juan Carlos “N” accepted to be responsible for the charges that the public ministry accuses him of and before that, the judge issued a sentence, the state prosecutor’s office reported in a statement, although he did not specify the length of the sentence.
