The award ceremony of the 50 Best Bars in North America returns to San Miguel de Allende. The third edition of the awards will take place next Tuesday, April 23.
There will be three days of activities focused on mixology and its talents that will take place within the framework of the event. The night before the list is revealed, the Bartenders’ Feast will take place.
“We are delighted to return to Mexico (…). By bringing back to San Miguel de Allende the biggest bar event in North America, our intention is to continue showing the vibrant nightlife of the city, as well as the people who make each experience exceptional for visitors”, said Emma Sleight, content director of North America’s 50 Best Bars.
Mexico has stood out for its cocktail scene; there are 14 national bars included in the previous list, eight of them in Mexico City (Handshake Speakeasy, Licorería Limantour, Baltra Bar, Rayo, Hanky Panky, Café de Nadie, Kaito del Valle and Brujas).
In fact, Mexico City is the second with the most presence within the 2023 list; only the cosmopolitan New York surpasses it.
As with the rest of the lists under the umbrella of William Reed, the 50 Best Bars in North America are chosen by the vote of a panel of experts in the hospitality industry, 270 in total, divided into seven regions that cover the United States, Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean.
During the gala, two special awards will also be presented: the Art of Hospitality, in recognition of the bar where the best experience is lived, and the Bartenders’ Bartender, voted by the protagonists of the industry to highlight that colleague who promotes the art behind the bar in order to support the recovery of the sector after the pandemic.
