Due to the current rainy season and the continuous vehicular traffic, some streets and roads in San Miguel de Allende have been damaged, so the Municipal Government has reinforced the patching program, with the maintenance and rehabilitation of streets and roads in this municipality.
For this reason, the Infrastructure and Public Works Department, under instructions from the municipal president, Mauricio Trejo, is working to keep the roads safe in the San Miguel territory, carrying out daytime and nighttime patching actions, to guarantee the safety of pedestrians and drivers in their journeys, announced through a statement the head of said department, Oscar Aguado.
“The San Miguel residents benefit from having a well-finished, pothole-free street, why? Because of the circulation of vehicles, because of the pedestrian circulation in the first blocks of the center. It is a day-to-day work of Public Works to have a better city. Our municipal president (Mauricio Trejo) has asked us to have all the access roads to San Miguel and the downtown area, which is where the tourists are, well patched, one hundred percent, and to have good streets,” he said.
Óscar Aguado added that, as the main axes of this program, two of the areas that present the greatest deterioration in the road surface are being addressed, being the José Manuel Zavala bypass and the San Miguel de Allende to Doctor Mora highway, stretches where permanent patching work has been carried out.
He also said that, during the current Administration, more than 220,000 linear meters of roads have been addressed throughout the municipal territory (226,713), by allocating an investment of practically $50 million pesos ($49,491,922.00), directly benefiting more than 130,000 San Miguel residents with improvements to the road infrastructure in streets of neighborhoods and colonies, as well as in rural roads.
He explained that materials such as stone balls from the drowned region in tepetate, stone balls from the drowned region in mortar, hydraulic concrete, paving stones, asphalt and sidewalks have been used, and that routes in the urban area, historic center and roads in the towns are still being attended to, among which are Guadalupe Avenue, San Luis Rey, Montes de Loreto, La Luz, Fraccionamiento Itzquinapan, Jardines II, Insurgentes, Santa Julia, Infonavit Allende, La Lejona, Palmita de Landeta, Ignacio Ramírez, Salida a Celaya, Infonavit Malanquín, in addition to the Conspiración Boulevard and Camino a Alcocer.
The head of Infrastructure and Public Works added that, with quality, fast and uncompromising work, the Municipal Government reaffirms its commitment to continue working on the continuous improvement of the roads of San Miguel de Allende, ensuring that people’s mobility is better every day.
