The Cervantino Festival kicks off in Guanajuato! Oaxaca and Brazil are the guests of honor

At the opening of the 52nd edition of the International Cervantino Festival, Governor Libia Dennise García Muñoz Ledo highlighted the cultural events that will take place over the next 16 days by the guests, Oaxaca and Brazil.

More than 3,271 artists will participate in this edition of the FIC, of ​​which 2,685 are national and 586 international, originating from 24 countries.

“This is a magical festival, where in addition to promoting culture and art, we promote inclusion and equity. Today, the International Cervantino Festival has, like never before, a woman’s face. Everyone is welcome,” she said.

The Cervantino has scheduled 130 performances of performing arts, 116 shows and more, which will be presented in 18 forums. Among the most anticipated events are the presentations of Monsieur Periné and Silvana Estrada in Latin American music. The Authentic Decadents and Nortec: Bostich + Fussible, representing popular genres.

Local talent will also be present and on this occasion there will be 449 artists from Guanajuato who will present 20 stage and musical proposals that cover genres such as jazz, traditional music and symphonic music. Among them, there are Guillermo Velázquez and the Leones de la Sierra de Xichú, the State Music Band and the Silvestre Revueltas Youth Symphony Orchestra.

Oaxaca comes to the Cervantino and surprises with its wide cultural offering

“We feel very proud to be present today at the Casa Oaxaca, a space that will represent this wonderful state during the stay at the Cervantino Festival. For us, having Oaxaca here is a great privilege,” said the governor.

In this place, the colors, flavors and textures of the cultural and gastronomic wealth of Oaxaca will provide a multisensory experience for those who visit it.

Traditional cooks, master tequila and mezcal makers, and Oaxacan artisans will be the stars of this Cervantine festival.

The Governor also toured the art exhibitions of the guest state of honor, Oaxaca. The offering includes a selection of art exhibitions, including renowned plastic artists from Oaxaca, Oaxacan codices and canvases, as well as works by contemporary and emerging artists.

Oaxacan pictorial and photographic works are on display at the Alhóndiga de Granaditas Regional Museum of Guanajuato, a venue that houses three important exhibitions that highlight the cultural and archaeological wealth of Oaxaca, as well as the ethnic diversity of Mexico.

These exhibitions are: Archaeological Tombs of Oaxaca, Traditional Zapotec Altar and 16 Cultures, and the Afro-Mexican and Sonorous People of the 15 Languages.
