Guanajuato has established itself as one of the favorite states for filmmakers, according to figures from the Mexican Institute of Cinematography (IMCINE).
According to the IMCINE 2023 Statistical Yearbook, the state is one of those that has registered the most film activity, ranking fourth.
The most recent and current figures from IMCINE reaffirm the state’s privileged place in the audiovisual industry, thanks to its rich cultural offering, unique landscapes, and an infrastructure that facilitates national and international productions.
The state reached second place nationally in the creation of film festivals and fourth place in the production of short films, demonstrating its commitment to promoting emerging talent.
SOLID ALLIANCES
In addition, it stands out for its number of exhibition and attendance complexes for Mexican cinema, key areas for the development of film culture.
The Guanajuato Film Commission, through the State Secretariat of Tourism and Identity, has also forged strong strategic alliances in recent years.
These have been with national and international institutions, including film festivals, which promote the state as a destination for the production of large productions.
They have also been with cultural and educational organizations, which support the training of local talent in areas such as direction, production and acting.
All of this allows for attracting projects and fostering ties with production companies from around the world.
