In San Miguel, the 256th anniversary of the birth of Generalissimo Ignacio Allende y Unzaga was honored, as the greatest Hero of the Independence of Mexico and true Father of the Nation.
With “Allendista Pride” and exalting his historical, libertarian legacy and patriotic identity, the people of San Miguel and the Municipal Government, carried out the annual celebration of the “First Soldier of the Nation and Favorite Son of San Miguel.”
From the Civic Plaza, representing the municipal president Mauricio Trejo, the trustee Miriam Janet Sandoval, in her message, invited all Mexicans to continue with the dream of Ignacio Allende: “We gathered to remember not only a man, but a symbol of bravery, honor and love for the country; from a young age, he understood that true greatness lies not in privileges, but in service to his people. He was the one who, with firmness and determination, took the first step towards Independence.».

In addition, the municipal official reiterated Mauricio Trejo’s message to the youth of San Miguel: «Young people of Mexico, Allende’s example invites us to reflect on our role in the construction of a better country. Like him, we must be strategists of our dreams and architects of our future. Today (young people) I invite you to make Allende’s words your own: be brave, be fair, be unattainable in the search for a greater, more united, freer Mexico. Ignacio Allende is not only the Greatest Hero of our Independence, he is the beacon that guides us in the storm of uncertainty, he is the echo that resonates in every step towards justice. Let us follow his example, let us build the Mexico that he dreamed of, but that is in our hands to achieve. Long live Ignacio Allende! Long live the Mexican and San Miguel youth! Long live Mexico!».
With a civic cultural program coordinated by the Directorate of Culture and Traditions, this Monday, January 20 and Tuesday, January 21, the commemorative celebrations were held, which began on Monday night with the traditional «Torch Parade», which stages the entry of the Insurgent Army to the then San Miguel el Grande in 1810 with Ignacio Allende in command.

Already this Tuesday morning, honors were paid in a solemn civic act to the memory of Allende and Unzaga, with a portrait, poems and ordinance calls that ended with the mounting of an Honor Guard with floral offerings at the feet of the equestrian figure of the Generalissimo, as well as outside the mansion where he was born in the Historic Center, now the Casa de Allende museum.
Later, almost at noon, along the main streets of the downtown area, the people of San Miguel witnessed the Civic Military parade led by contingents from schools, the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC), the Sedena, the National Guard and the special participation of Rural Security Cavalcades and local civil associations, with a total of almost 5,000 participants.

The celebrations for the eponymous hero of San Miguel will culminate with the participation of the State Music Band, with a public concert on the esplanade of the Main Garden, framed by a fireworks display.
