Libia Denisse García, governor of the state of Guanajuato, stated that her administration will investigate former governor Diego Sinhue. The investigation is based on a potential conflict of interest over the origin of the multimillion-dollar house located in The Woodlands, Texas, United States, where his family lives and which he rents to the company Seguritech.
During a media appearance, the governor of Guanajuato was questioned about the potential conflict of interest between the former governor and a security company that has allegedly held contracts with the state government. In this regard, Libia Denisse denied that her administration has any current contracts related to the case and confirmed the initiation of the investigation against Sinhue.
“On Friday, we began an investigation by the Ministry of Honesty to determine any liability. I’m not here to defend individuals, contracts, or companies. I’m here to look out for the good of Guanajuato, and any legitimate concerns will be investigated,” he stated in a brief address to the press after announcing the ANEAS 2025 Annual Convention and Expo.
According to an investigation conducted by PopLab, Diego Sinhue Rodríguez Vallejo lives with his wife and daughters in a luxurious house located in the residential area of The Woodlands, Texas. However, the property belongs to Daniel Esquenazi Beraha, an architect who once represented the company Seguritech, which allegedly had contracts with the Guanajuato government.
According to the investigation, Seguritech has had security-related business contracts with the Guanajuato government since at least 2012. These ties reportedly continued during Sinhue’s administration, although they were kept confidential. The weekly Zeta even identified Esquenazi as the security company’s “public relations manager.”
On the other hand, the outlet noted that the relationship between the former governor, Esquenazi, and the company’s executive director is not limited to security issues. According to the outlet, during Sinhue’s administration, the businessmen partnered to develop a rural property.
To date, the former governor has not issued a statement or position on the case. The Citizen Participation Committee of the State Anti-Corruption System reported that:
“The Citizen Participation Committee of the State Anti-Corruption System of Guanajuato informs citizens that, in response to the complaints received through our official social media platform, we have referred the matter to the relevant authorities, including the Secretariat of Honesty, the IACIP (Integrated Public Accounts Institute), the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Corruption, and the Superior Audit Office of the State of Guanajuato.”
