The state of Guanajuato concluded its participation in the 2026 Tianguis Turístico (Tourism Fair) with significant progress in air connectivity, most notably the announcement of new flights that will strengthen the arrival of national and international visitors to the Bajío International Airport.

Among the key announcements was the launch of a direct flight from Puebla to the Bajío region, which will begin operations this June, expanding domestic connectivity options. This is complemented by the new international route Guanajuato–Vancouver, operated by Flair Airlines, which will begin on October 3, further solidifying the state’s presence in international markets.

Currently, the Bajío International Airport operates flights to 21 national and international destinations and registered more than three million passengers during 2025, reinforcing its role as one of the main connectivity hubs in the Bajío region.

These announcements were made during Guanajuato’s prominent participation in the country’s most important tourism event, where more than 600 business meetings took place and over 20 strategic announcements were made for the sector. Among them, the hosting of the Brussels World Competition Awards Gala in San Miguel de Allende stands out, an event that will strengthen the state’s wine tourism offerings.

The Guanajuato delegation, led by the state administration headed by Libia Dennise García Muñoz Ledo, included representatives from 13 tourist destinations, hotel associations, and other industry stakeholders, who promoted key products such as romance tourism, the Wine Route, and cultural experiences.

During the event, the quality of Guanajuato’s tourism offerings was also recognized with three significant awards: the International Cervantino Festival was distinguished as Best Cultural Festival; Tierra Madre Hotel Boutique received the award for Innovation in Tourism Products; and the Agustina Route of Yuriria was awarded Best Tourist Route.

With these results, Guanajuato consolidates its tourism positioning strategy, where the expansion of air routes is emerging as a key element to increase the flow of visitors and strengthen the competitiveness of the destination at the national and international level.
