The state government asserted that it has a sufficient legal framework to combat crimes such as the sale of adulterated beverages.
According to initial reports, the perpetrators stole various valuables, including passports, computer equipment, cash, and other personal belongings essential for their trip.
The case drew attention because the victims were passing through the city and had arrived in Mexico to support the South Korean national team during the 2026 World Cup.
After the report to the 911 emergency system, security forces deployed an operation to address the complaint and begin the corresponding investigations.
As part of the actions taken, authorities gathered information at the scene, conducted interviews, and coordinated efforts with various public safety agencies to try to locate clues that would allow them to identify those responsible.
The Government of Guanajuato presented the updated Risk Atlas for Journalists and Human Rights Defenders.
However, the initial investigations faced complications stemming from a lack of sufficient evidence and communication barriers caused by the language difference between the victims and the authorities.
Despite this, a formal complaint was filed, allowing for the opening of an investigation file to follow up on the case.
So far, the belongings reported as stolen have not been recovered, and authorities have not reported any arrests or conclusive progress regarding those responsible.
