Guanajuato City will experience a weekend of intense activity with two events expected to draw hundreds of visitors: the broadcast of the Mexico vs. England match from the 2026 World Cup and the Soltero Fest (Single Fest). Authorities anticipate road closures and a significant influx of tourists.

The Director of Economic and Tourism Development, Denisse Michelini Ojeda, confirmed that this Sunday, July 5th, the underground street will once again be used as a gathering place for fans to enjoy the Mexican National Team’s match.

As was the case on June 30th, the event will be coordinated by local restaurants, which will set up screens and offer food and drinks to attendees.

This time, the designated area will extend from the lower level of the Los Ángeles shopping center to the lower level of the Jardín de la Unión (Union Garden), and a large turnout is expected. More than 500 people attended the previous broadcast.

Although the game is scheduled for 6:00 p.m., pre-game activities will be held so fans can begin gathering hours earlier.

Regarding security and traffic, the Secretariat of Citizen Security reported that the section of road will be closed to traffic starting at 11:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 4th, and will reopen in the early morning hours of Monday, July 6th.

In addition, the presence of police officers, Civil Protection personnel, and traffic police will be reinforced to expedite traffic flow and guarantee safety both in the historic center and throughout the rest of the municipality, without neglecting the regular surveillance operation.

As part of the weekend’s activities, the Soltero Fest will be held on July 4th, an event designed to bring people together in an atmosphere of camaraderie, music, and entertainment.

The main event will be a massive street parade with a capacity for 1,000 participants, scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m.

The traditional street parade will wind through the main streets and alleyways of the historic center, accompanied by the Estudiantina de Guanajuato, a musical group that is part of one of the city’s most iconic traditions.

The festival aims to foster community among attendees and, in keeping with the event’s theme, provide a space for single people to meet.

The day will also include activities, performances, social spaces, and a wide range of culinary and tourist offerings, all designed to allow visitors to experience the rich cultural heritage of Guanajuato City.

With this event, the organizers seek to strengthen tourism and the local economy, benefiting businesses, restaurants, and service providers in the municipality.
