Tuesday morning, alarms were raised among residents in the area of the railway station in San Miguel de Allende.
A young man in a pickup truck with Michoacán license plates reportedly arrived at the site in a very assertive manner, according to neighbors, claiming that he had come to “take possession” of the area surrounding the Old Station, including land and homes that have been occupied for more than five decades by retirees and pensioners of the National Railways of Mexico and their families.
And that is where the problem began.
According to testimonies from the residents themselves, some of them have practically spent their entire lives there. They established their homes, raised their children, and now have new generations of their families living in the same houses.
