With information from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), nearly 3 tons of chemical precursors used to manufacture methamphetamine and fentanyl were seized, Government Secretary Jorge Jiménez Lona reported when interviewed about the “drug lab” dismantled in the municipality of Acámbaro.
“We must highlight the trust that U.S. agencies have in the Guanajuato government. They do not work this way throughout the country; I can guarantee that Guanajuato is one of the few states that receives this collaboration,” he stated.
The Secretariat of Security and Peace reported that on August 27, with information provided by United States agencies, a drug laboratory was dismantled in a difficult-to-access area of the community of Irámuco, in the municipality of Acámbaro. The area borders the state of Michoacán.
“The information I can give you is that there are nearly three tons of chemical precursors, and that prevents those drugs from reaching Mexico, but, well, also the neighboring country,” Jiménez Lona stated. He revealed that this is not the first time the FBI has exchanged information with Guanajuato authorities.
