Spokesman for the Guanajuato Prosecutor’s Office is murdered, two suspects arrested

On Wednesday, August 26, authorities arrested Roberto Carlos “N” * and * Frida María “N”, who were taken to court accused of kidnapping and murdering Elihú Ojeda, Communications Director of the Guanajuato State Attorney General’s Office.

Elihú Ojeda, Communications Director of the Guanajuato State Attorney General’s Office, was assassinated after being kidnapped on August 16, authorities reported.

12 days after his disappearance was reported, the official was found dead on Wednesday, August 26th.

The Guanajuato Prosecutor’s Office reported that on August 16, Elihú’s disappearance was reported, so the investigation protocols for the search and location were activated.

“In the investigation, a telephone call was received in which a large sum of money was demanded in exchange for his freedom, so the Specialized Unit in Combating Kidnapping (UECS) had to intervene,” the agency reported in a release.

According to the investigations, the motive for the crime is due to issues beyond his charge or quality as a public servant of this Institution.

Elihú Ojeda was last seen when he left his home in Valle de Santiago, heading for Salamanca, in the state of Guanajuato.

According to the investigation of the UECS of the Special Prosecutor’s Office for Investigation of High Impact Crimes, it was established that a man and a woman kidnapped Elihú.

The suspects seized his vehicle and made phone calls with the aim of obtaining money in exchange for his freedom.

So on Wednesday, August 26th, authorities detained Roberto Carlos “N” * and * Frida María “N”, who were taken before a judge, accused for the crimes of kidnapping and murder.

On August 26, the Attorney General’s Office located a lifeless body, which later was confirmed to be the body of Elihú Ojeda.

The Attorney General’s Office deeply regrets the death of one of their colleagues and is in solidarity with his family and loved ones, while publicly condemning these events.
