Pachuca de Soto, Hidalgo, November 26, 2023. Mineral de Pozos signed a Letter of Intent for Twinning together with 11 Magical Mining Towns of Mexico, within the framework of the 5th. edition of the Tianguis de Pueblos Mágicos, event held in Pachuca de Soto, Hidalgo.
Juan José Álvarez Brunel, Secretary of Tourism of the State of Guanajuato, applauded this alliance that proposes to show the world that mining history has tradition and that it has generated an economy not only in metal extraction but also in tourism.
The objective of this initiative – headed by Ruth Salazar García, Municipal President of the Magic Town of El Oro – is to generate actions, agreements and strategies for sustainable tourism promotion, and to exchange experiences.
During the celebration of this signing, María Isabel Oviedo Flores, head of the Directorate of Tourism Development, was present, representing the mayor of San Luis de la Paz, Guanajuato, Luis Gerardo Sánchez Sánchez, who highlighted that Mineral de Pozos was one of cities with the most important mining companies in Mexico.
And, which, currently, won the award for “The Best of Guanajuato”, Mexico Unknown contest, in the experience tour category of the nature and adventure segment, which invites the visitor to descend 100 meters into a mine, unique experience in the entity.
The 12 Magical Mining Towns that signed this letter were: Mineral de Pozos, Guanajuato; El Oro, State of Mexico; Huasca de Ocampo, Mineral Del Chico, Real del Monte, Zimapán, in the State of Hidalgo; Tlalpujahua, Michoacán; Magdalena de Kino, Sonora; Taxco de Alarcón, Guerrero; Mapimí, Durango; Real de Catorce, San Luis Potosí; Mineral from Angangueo, Michoacán.
