Wall disappears from Benito Juárez Park in San Miguel de Allende, what happened?

Desaparece barda del parque Benito Juárez en San Miguel de Allende, ¿qué sucedió?

One of the walls of the Benito Juárez park in San Miguel de Allende ‘disappeared’ overnight, which has caused questions from frequent visitors to the place.

A large part of one of the walls that borders the stream that runs through the park is destroyed and, although the causes are unknown, there are those who claim that it fell because the structure weakened in the part that faces the riverbed.

The thick stone and concrete wall runs the entire length of the stream and in addition to serving as protection for walkers, it is usually used to sit.

Until yesterday, the area was delimited with preventive tape to prevent passage to the place where stones and debris still remain, which represent a risk for those who go to this public space.

The event surprised the neighbors of the place. Photo: Ingrid Devesa.
The municipal government said that consolidation works are being carried out on 21 meters of the wall and that the work will last for a month. They also assure that Civil Protection has assessed the rest of the perimeter wall, ruling out that it represents a risk or presents damage after the recent rains.

The intervention of the municipal authorities in this public space, located in the heart of the city, has generated questions in recent years from the people of San Miguel because it has become common to start works without announcing the projects, so the citizens are.
