Authorities in the municipality of Villagrán, in the state of Guanajuato, confirmed this Friday the murder of two musicians from a narcocorrido group from that town, after a performance in the city of Querétaro.
Authorities indicated that the victims were Emiliano Cuevas Montiel, vocalist of the group “Emiliano Cuevas y Grupo Penumbre”, and accordionist David Noria.
In a statement, the municipal government regretted the incident, expressing its condolences to the family of the singer, brother of Liliana Cuevas Montiel, executive secretary of the Comprehensive Protection System for Girls, Boys and Adolescents of the municipality of Villagrán.
In addition to being a relative of councilor Dora Elia Cuevas Villagómez and Manuel Cuevas Villagómez, director of municipal Ecology.
Initial reports indicated that armed men waited for the musicians in the parking lot of a shopping mall where the bar called “El Mezcalito” is located in Querétaro.
The bodies were transferred by the authorities to the local Forensic Medical Service (Semefo).
Querétaro police officers secured the crime area so that investigative experts could conduct their investigations and began a deployment to find the alleged perpetrators.
