With the first edition of the Architecture Biennial, local and foreign specialists will discuss architectural beauty and its future in San Miguel de Allende. On the eve of this event, the 1st Architecture Biennial, to be held on Friday, October 4 and Saturday, October 5, will have the objective of presenting a fluid dialogue and a proactive reflection on the existing architecture in the San Miguel territory, so there will be tours to carry out an in-person analysis of the historical monuments in the municipality. Those who risked showing their projects will be recognized and the best will be distinguished through a gallery exhibition open to the public; in addition, it will be materialized in a book that will capture the architectural evolution of the city and will capture its transformation every two years.
«It is a celebration to show what is being done in San Miguel de Allende at this moment and to reflect: how are we drawing the city? We are an inspiration for the world. In many ways, the architecture that is here in San Miguel has historically been shown universally for being a declaration, but in addition to that: we are a destination for the best architecture. The structure of the city, the characteristics, the way it is and should be in the future is a dialogue that we must maintain permanently and discussing that better architecture is our driving force” said Marcos Álvarez, president of the College of Architects of San Miguel de Allende, who is accompanied by the director of the Architecture Biennial, Ernesto Mota.
How do we draw the city? Under the motto: How do we draw the city?, this architecture competition will recognize the best of architecture in San Miguel de Allende, so this first edition will have a diverse program, which includes conferences at the Angela Peralta theater, with the award ceremony at the end of both days and the event will be closed at the Casa del Mayorazgo de la Canal, where the graphic exhibition will be mounted with the best sheets of the contestants.
Prior to its realization, the call remains open to the public and especially to students of architecture degrees and members of all colleges of architects in the municipalities of Guanajuato and Mexico in general. The 1st San Miguel de Allende Architecture Biennial has the support of the Municipal Government headed by Mauricio Trejo, to scale up the projection of this event and for San Miguel de Allende to continue offering quality specialized forums, under the union with the professional guild, as is the case of the College of Architects of San Miguel de Allende, in coordination with the Mexican Federation of Architects, as well as academic institutions and local sponsors.
Promoting development through the conservation of its heritage, the Municipal Government continues working to project San Miguel de Allende as a venue for national and international events, being the ambassador of Guanajuato to Mexico and the world, because its architecture is getting better every day.
