Manuel Bribiesca, president of the National Chamber of the Restaurant Industry in the state, stated that Guanajuato must maintain the growth of tequila and wine production.
Guanajuato businessmen hope that Claudia Sheinbaum “looks at them”
She stressed that the more these two markets are promoted, the more quickly they will become an important engine for the tourism sector throughout the state, and not only in the cultural and business tourism corridor.
She said that in the previous six-year term, the state of Guanajuato was successful in promoting the development of agave planting for the production of tequila and mezcal, as well as the cultivation of grapes for the production of Guanajuato wine.
“We see that the tourism sector in Guanajuato has significant growth, and the six-year term that has just begun has great expectations, because it receives important public policies created around wine with the growth of vineyards, but also the restaurant sector hopes that in addition to the growth of the vineyards, there will also be significant growth in terms of tequila production, because Guanajuato is already an important agave producing state for tequila and mezcal, and this is proven with the designation of origin that Guanajuato has in both Tequila and Mezcal,” he commented.
He stressed that now with the arrival of the new Secretary of Tourism in charge of Lupita Robles, he hopes that the current government’s drive to the sector of the production of tequilas and Guanajuato wines will continue.
“Among the public policies that we hope the current administration of the state government will continue to promote, is that there is an even push in the production of tequila, mezcal and wine, this due to the fact that the vineyards have been strengthened and generate an important economic spillover in the tourism sector for the state,” he reported.
On the other hand, he declared that the economy of the country and the state is perceived as stable, so the sector outlines an annual growth closing of over 10 percent.
The leader of Canirac stressed that the tourism sector in the country shows an orderly growth, and this will encourage Guanajuato to also maintain rising figures.
“Compared to the previous year, Guanajuato is expected to experience real growth of up to 10% in restaurants,” he concluded.
