Se viralizan semáforos curiosos en Guanajuato.

Although they may seem like simple traffic lights, some municipalities have turned them into real tourist attractions. And social media was quick to make them go viral.

From the strawberries of Irapuato to volcanoes in Valle de Santiago, these are some of the most curious designs that have been made in the new traffic lights of Guanajuato.

The strawberries of Irapuato

This week, photographs of the new traffic light designs on the streets of Irapuato went viral.

Although at first glance they look like any other traffic light, in their lights you can see the image of a strawberry.

This is because Irapuato is known as the World Capital of Strawberry, standing out in general in the berry market.

Salvatierra: The traffic lights of a Magical Town

One of the first traffic lights in Guanajuato that went viral were those of Salvatierra.

Due to its status as a Magical Town, a few months ago Salvatierra announced a new model of traffic lights that matched this aesthetic.

On its lights you can see the image of a bull, alluding to livestock, a guava, one of the main crops of the municipality, and a pinwheel.

The then mayor of Salvatierra, Germán Cervantes, shared this traffic light design on his social networks, quickly going viral.

The volcanoes of Valle de Santiago

In Valle de Santiago, the traffic lights show the image of a volcano.

This is because one of the biggest tourist attractions in Valle de Santiago are the extinct volcanoes known as Las 7 Luminarias.

There are even legends of alleged UFO sightings in this area.

The leather on the zebra crossings in León
Although in León the traffic lights have not changed and continue to show the typical lights, the zebra crossings reflect the identity of the city.

In several areas of León, mainly near the centre, you can see painted hides between the bars of zebra crossings, to reflect the city’s tanning tradition.
