With the aim of promoting tourism consolidation based on the concepts of identity, tourism culture, competitiveness, community tourism and transversality, María Guadalupe Robles León, Secretary of Tourism and Identity in the state of Guanajuato, said that among the tourism projects to be promoted is community tourism development in Sangre de Cristo, Mineral de la Luz, El Cubilete and neighboring communities.
The state official explained that promoting tourism that boosts the economy and well-being of Guanajuato families that make up the entity’s tourism value chain will be part of the actions to be undertaken.
In what was the Community Tourism Development workshop at the Sangre de Cristo tourist stop, she recalled that the Cristo del Cerro del Cubilete receives more than 3.5 million pilgrims and tourists each year, so it is sought that this same tourism reaches the nearby communities of Sangre de Cristo and Mineral de la Luz.
For his part, David Ayala Saucedo, general director of Tourism Development, commented that he met with the main actors in the tourism value chain of the Barrio de Mineral de la Luz, Sangre de Cristo and the area of influence to, together, reactivate the inn and build employment and development opportunities, and thus trigger new products linked to the offer that is already available.
“Today, the government joins the work of community development with the entire population of this area where Guanajuato capital and Silao converge; in this first exercise, SECTURI will listen to their needs and ideas to work as a team in this development,” David Ayala stressed.
In this sense, he indicated that Community Tourism is characterized by having elements of natural and cultural wealth, always from a perspective of local, sustainable development, protection and conservation.
The above, derived from the recent appointment of Mineral de la Luz as the first Magical Neighborhood of Guanajuato, as well as the use of the tourist infrastructure and existing services in the Sangre de Cristo tourist stop, a space of tourist identity characterized by bringing together gastronomic, historical, scenic, artisanal and recreational elements.
In this area, the Secretariat of Tourism and Identity works in a coordinated manner with the sector and said that tourism consolidation will be promoted based on the concepts of identity, tourist culture, competitiveness, community tourism and transversality.
