The XXVIII Guanajuato International Film Festival (GIFF) has opened its call for the registration of films that wish to participate in this edition, which will take place from July 25 to August 3, 2025.
This event brings together artists, professionals and new talents from the industry, in a competitive and accessible environment for the generation of cinema in the state of Guanajuato. Registration to participate with a film will be open until April 1, 2025, with the aim of promoting the creation and exhibition of quality cinema.
GIFF is characterized by promoting the exhibition of short films and feature films that not only stand out for their artistic quality, but also for their cultural and social impact.
Foreign and Mexican filmmakers receive scholarships
The organization of the festival in conjunction with the Medienboard Berlin Brandenburg and the Goethe-Institut Mexico, as well as the Guanajuato-Berlin 24/7 Artistic Residency, allowed Michael Fetter Nathansky, of German origin, to live a full training scholarship to improve his film project in Mexico.
“I was lucky to be able to participate in the San Miguel de Allende residency, where I spent a spectacular 2 months, in which I had a very nice mix between being able to develop the projects I already had or invent new ones,” explained Michael.
At the same time, after ten years of collaboration with the Netherlands, GIFF takes advantage of its 2025 edition to further strengthen this bilateral relationship with its GIFF Residency program, which selected Emiliano Rocha Minter and Eduardo Esquivel to attend a film professionalization program abroad.
