The state of Guanajuato participated in the 2025 edition of the Tianguis Turístico (Tianguis Turístico) held in the city of Tijuana, Baja California, achieving more than 1,400 business meetings with national and international tourism operators interested in the range of events and attractions the state offers.
At the event, which brought together thousands of operators and buyers, the state showcased several of its attractions, such as the Callejón del Beso (Kiss Alley), the variety of snows in the municipality of Dolores Hidalgo, and even hosted a hot air balloon and a traditional student dance group.
The Guanajuato delegation took advantage of the international event to sign a collaboration agreement with the Confederation of National Chambers of Commerce and Tourism Services (Concanaco) to promote commercial tourism to the state throughout the country.
Likewise, the National Hat Fair was announced, which will take place in the municipality of San Francisco del Rincón on June 6, 7, and 8.
In addition, the new tourist route “Diego, Frida’s Heart” was launched. This is a three-day trip to the city of Guanajuato that includes a visit to Diego Rivera’s birthplace and an appreciation of his most representative works, a stay at the Corazón Mexicano hotel, which offers a room decorated with the essence of Frida and Diego, and participation in a creative workshop at the “Taller 23” art space, where visitors can paint and mold clay, giving shape and color to their own hearts.
The state of Guanajuato was awarded the title of best town for a romantic getaway during the 2025 Tourist Market. The magical town of Mineral de Pozos was named best destination for a romantic getaway, the best destination for a wedding in the municipality of San Miguel de Allende, and the best family destination in Dolores Hidalgo.
Meanwhile, the Magical Awards for Excellence were awarded to Yuriria for its nature tourism offering, Salvatierra for its architecture, Jalpa de Cánovas for its sustainable destination, Comonfort for its traditional cuisine, and Mineral de Pozos for its pre-Hispanic music festival.
According to official figures, the state of Guanajuato received a total of 21.9 million visitors during 2024, and tourism generated an economic impact of 51.7 billion pesos, with an average hotel occupancy rate of 38 percent, representing a total of 257,145 occupied rooms.
Guanajuato experienced an increase in international tourism, primarily from the United States, Colombia, Canada, Spain, Japan, and Argentina, placing it seventh in the country in this regard.
