In May, the People’s Government, through the Secretariat of Tourism and Identity (SECTURI), trained 455 people in 23 municipalities through 13 specialized courses as part of the State Tourism Training Program.

The workshops, aimed at waiters, contact personnel, and tourism service providers, seek to improve the quality of service, strengthen technical skills, and promote a comprehensive image of tourism as a key driver of economic development.

In one of the courses taught in Purísima del Rincón, trainer Mario Alberto Hernández Cereda explained the importance of these training activities:

“For us, it’s extremely important to have our staff trained because it ensures or leads us to what we’ve always sought: competitiveness in the sector. For us, it’s obviously to give them the tools that allow us to ensure we have satisfied customers and grow our business.”

Alan Bernardino, a restaurant owner, stated that this experience represents an opportunity to perfect processes and expand knowledge. “We’re here learning. The internships offered to us by Tourism and Purísima are truly very interesting. It’s important to participate because they empower you every day, even in things you think you know, but there are many new things we can apply to ensure customer satisfaction.”

From the perspective of assistant Fernando Gálmez, this type of training provides direct and useful lessons for his work:

“It’s becoming clear to me that it’s necessary to have good quality service to attract a greater range of satisfied customers. Personally, it’s clear to me that customers are guests we must nurture to keep them coming back.”

The topics taught this month by SECTURI include warm service, effective communication, service knowledge, the image of tourism is created by everyone, basic waiter training, community tourism, and specialized sales techniques.

With this program, Guanajuato reaffirms its commitment to the professional development of those who make up the tourism value chain. Training not only improves the quality of services but also becomes a tool for personal and economic growth for participants.
