Rain cuts off parts of San Miguel; emergency operation activated

The heavy rains that hit San Miguel de Allende between Sunday afternoon and early Monday morning caused severe damage to various communities in the municipality, leaving some of them isolated. In response to this situation, local and federal emergency services activated a joint operation to respond to citizen reports and prevent further damage.

One of the most serious cases occurred in Rancho Bonito, where two elderly people were safely evacuated by rescue teams. The efforts were carried out by Municipal Civil Protection, in coordination with Mexican Army personnel deployed under Plan DN-III, as well as firefighters and paramedics from the SMA (National Action Service), the Red Cross, and National Guard personnel.

In other areas, such as Corral de Piedra and Los Rodríguez, authorities reported risks due to accumulated water and swollen streams. Emergency teams remain on constant watch at these locations, responding to any eventuality that could pose a danger to residents.

The situation in the community of La Minita is particularly delicate, as the rains have completely blocked the main access road, leaving residents isolated. Authorities have begun evaluating alternative routes to restore access and deliver essential supplies if needed.

Despite the magnitude of the event, no injuries have been reported so far, thanks to the rapid response of emergency services. Work has continued continuously since the first reports began, and teams are working around the clock to ensure the safety of the population.

The municipal government has issued a call to the public to exercise extreme caution, stay informed through official channels, and avoid crossing flooded areas, especially on rural roads and fords.
