More than 100 tattoo artists will gather in San Miguel de Allende to participate in the third edition of the BTSMA Tattoo Expo, taking place this weekend. This event is gaining popularity, attracting artists and spectators from around the country and even abroad.
“This is the third year we’ve held this type of event. We’ll have around 120 national and international tattoo artists selected for their skill and artistic trajectory. We also have piercing and body modification artists,” shared Mattias, event organizer and artist at Black Tattoo Studio & Piercing 305.
The event, which will take place at the Los Pinos salon from 12 noon to 9 pm, will also feature a bazaar, food, and an exciting lineup of musical performances, including DJs Santana and Sukko, and San Miguel bands such as Calaca Proyect, Chilam Balam, and Pecado de Afrodita.
BTSMA Tattoo Expo Awards
Over the two days of the Expo, awards will be given to the best tattoos in nine categories, judged by nine expert judges. The event concludes on Sunday with the “Best of Show” awards ceremony, where the top-place finishers in each category will participate.
The event is free and open to all. Visitors can attend and get a tattoo from artists who have an open schedule, or simply learn about the topic and have a good time. The aim is to combat the taboos and discrimination surrounding the tattoo world, promoting this art form as a profession in which artists are increasingly better prepared.
