This Thursday, November 20th, the Mexican brand Maja Sportswear celebrated the opening of its 93rd store in the heart of San Miguel de Allende, thus consolidating its rapid growth in the outdoor fashion sector and reinforcing its presence in the state of Guanajuato.
Located at Hernández Macías #81, just one block from the main square, the new branch opened its doors to a lively atmosphere filled with visitors, tourists, and brand enthusiasts who took advantage of the 15% opening discount and discovered garments designed especially for adventure, active lifestyles, and everyday wear.
During the opening, El Heraldo de León spoke with Jhavi León, Maja’s marketing director, who emphasized that the brand’s identity is completely linked to adventure and outdoor activities.
“Maja” is a 100% Mexican clothing brand. We stand out for making outdoor clothing, for adventure, clothing that protects you from the sun and also works perfectly for everyday wear. It’s very versatile: you can wear it to work, go out, or go to the countryside,” he explained.
With a variety that includes shirts, jackets, pants, accessories, and technical garments, Maja seeks to position itself as an accessible, durable option designed for the real needs of Mexican consumers.
The opening in San Miguel de Allende is part of a broader national growth plan. According to León, the company has had a record year.
“The brand has grown a lot; this year we will reach 100 stores in the country. This one in San Miguel de Allende is number 93,” he commented.
The choice of city was no accident:
“We see San Miguel as a strategic location. We want all tourists, especially international visitors to Mexico, to get to know this great Mexican brand. In Guanajuato, we already have a presence in Celaya and Irapuato, and now we’re adding San Miguel.”
Upcoming openings: on the road to store number 100
The marketing director announced that the expansion will continue in the coming days:
A new branch will open in Hermosillo, another will arrive in Los Cabos, where the 100th store will be inaugurated next week. And then, more openings will be announced soon.
Prior to this inauguration, Maja Sportswear made its debut at the 2025 International Balloon Festival, where they featured a themed hot air balloon and an interactive booth.
“It was crazy; there was a huge line of people wanting to participate in the activation. We were surprised by the public’s response,” León recalled.
This participation boosted the brand’s visibility at one of Guanajuato’s most important tourism events.
Although the store is now officially open, the brand extended an invitation to the local and international public to visit the new space and explore its complete collection.
