In response to the recent violence in the municipality of Valle de Santiago, where six people were killed, authorities in Guanajuato and Michoacán have activated a permanent operational coordination plan to immediately address the security situation in the border region between the two states.

The Secretary of Public Security of Guanajuato, Juan Mauro González Martínez, held a strategic meeting with his counterpart from Michoacán, José Antonio Cruz Medina, to strengthen joint operations and ensure an effective response to high-impact incidents.

The meeting took place at the C5i security complex, located in the municipality of Silao, where they analyzed recent events and agreed to intensify the exchange of real-time information, as well as reinforce coordinated deployments and surveillance in neighboring communities considered priority areas. Authorities agreed that inter-institutional coordination is essential to contain violence in border areas, and therefore established mechanisms for direct communication and continuous monitoring, with the aim of protecting the population and restoring security conditions in the region.
