El “Azul” successor to el”Marro” of the Santa Rosa de Lima cartel has been arrested in Guanajuato

Guanajuato, Gto. Adán “N” alias El Azul , designated as the successor of José Antonio Ortiz Yepez Ortiz, El Marro , at the head of the Santa Rosa de Lima Cartel, which maintains an open dispute with the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel, which has left thousands of deaths in the state of Guanajuato, was captured on Wednesday, October 14th.

This was reported on Twitter by the governor of Guanajuato, Diego Sinhue Rodríguez Vallejo, who indicated that the state attorney general, Carlos Zamarripa, will shortly give more information on the matter. The CSRL operates in the Laja-Bajío region.

Following the governor’s announcement, the state prosecutor’s office reported that the arrest was made during a joint operation with state and federal security agents.

The first appearance of ‘El Azul’ occurred on August 16 in a video published after the capture of ‘El Marro’, in which he threatened members of the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel, the rival organization with which the Guanajuato territory is disputed.

Although the Santa Rosa de Lima Cartel began to gain strength in the region in 2017 and since then the confrontations began, in 2020 the war against the rival criminal organization has become increasingly explicit and intense.

Numerous bloody events have occurred since then, making Guanajuato the most dangerous state in the country, where an average of 14 murders occur every 24 hours.
