San Miguel de Allende, Gto. As a result of the tourism strategy instructed by governor Mauricio Trejo, Romance Tourism continues to strengthen in San Miguel de Allende.

According to comparative statistics from January to September 2022, compared to the same period this year, 10% more weddings have been held than last year, as highlighted by the director of Economic Development and Tourism, Tania Castillo, after the outstanding participation of San Miguel de Allende in the Latin American Wedding Congress, held in Riviera Maya.

As our mayor, Mr. Mauricio Trejo, mentioned from day one: we started very focused on the union of the unions, on this alliance between the Municipal Government and each of the chambers or associations. It is going together, pulling in the same direction. We are 10% above the weddings we had last year, which means that the promotion, both national and international, that we have been doing and not only the Municipality, but together with the wedding association and the private initiative. It went very well, we had the participation of 12 “local planners” that we took to the expo. “Very good response and positioning of San Miguel at a national and international level. (San Miguel) continues to be in the eyes of everyone internationally. Very good because it was this alliance between the “local planners” with the “planners from outside”, expressed Tania Castillo.

As a consequence of the positive local impact generated by holding a wedding in San Miguel de Allende, the San Miguel de Allende Government continues to create a link between local companies and “international planners”, so that they are not direct competitors, but allies in the provision of the service; That is, organize the event between both parties, to expand its offer, improve each event and for San Miguel de Allende to continue to be the “Best Wedding Destination in Mexico.”

«What we have seen a lot is that these same “international planners” are making alliances with “local planners” to be able to have the wedding in San Miguel. We always strongly reinforce the issue of local productivity, of the value chain that benefits and that, even if a wedding comes from outside, the entire value chain in San Miguel continues to benefit, because its services continue to be hired.” stressed the municipal official.

“We appreciate all the support and participation given to our union. We are sure that it will bring excellent results for the entire destination in the romance sector,” said Martha Rocío López, president of the Association of Weddings and Venues of San Miguel de Allende.

Continuing with this successful tourism strategy, in the near future San Miguel de Allende will have a prominent presence in both California and New York; first through a direct approach between a San Miguel delegation, including the “local wedding planners” and subsequently taking advantage of the recent designation of San Miguel de Allende as one of the Best Small Cities in the World by bringing all the tourist benefits that San Miguel offers to everyone.

Particularly in the area of Romance Tourism, in San Miguel de Allende there were 504 in 2022 and this year there are 556, where these 52 nuptials currently represent a double-digit increase (10%) and, therefore, a positive impact on the local economic spill, since annually it exceeds 3,000 million pesos.

With results supported by reliable data that support the current tourism strategy, San Miguel de Allende continues to make Mexico and the world beat because it is better every day.
