San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato.- Honoring the life of the “Favorite Son”, the San Miguel government has prepared the program within the framework of the 255th anniversary of the birth of Don Ignacio Allende y Unzaga.
Through the direction of Culture and Traditions, a program of civic and cultural events was presented in honor of the birthday of the maximum hero of the Independence, where the traditional Great Military and Civic Parade will be the most significant event.
“We try to make a cultural program that speaks at least of music, of his inclination to the bullfighting party, which of course is undeniable and good, that we have a festive atmosphere dedicated to the memory of Don Ignacio and that makes us proud to be San Miguel, to be able to say: Allende is ours. San Miguel contributed a terribly authentic hero to Mexican history and the Independence movement. The president (Mauricio Trejo) has put special interest in making this party with dignity, not just any party, but one that really serves to pay tribute to Don Ignacio Allende” said Acacio Martínez, director of Culture and Traditions.
The festivities will be headed by the Great Military and Civic Parade, which will have a new route: starting from the Aurora neighborhood, passing by the Municipal Palace and continuing its route through Zacateros, Ancha de San Antonio and ending at the Cardo, this on Sunday, January 21, starting at 10:30 in the morning, where public and private educational institutions, civil associations, rural horseback rides and local (Secretariat of Citizen Security SSC) and foreign (Sedena) security elements will be participating with their respective armored contingents.
Among other activities planned, on Tuesday 16 the solemn Flag Raising will be held from the esplanade of the Municipal Presidency; later, in the Main Garden there will be a series of cultural presentations (wind bands, folkloric ballet and mariachi) from Wednesday 17 to Friday 19, at 7 p.m.
On Saturday, January 20, the incomparable “Torch Parade” will take place, at 8 p.m., which revives the moment when Ignacio Allende calls the people of San Miguel to arms to fight for the Free Mexico.
On Sunday, January 21, the birthday of the eponymous hero of this city, a mass will be offered in the iconic parish church; finally, a pyrotechnic show will be held at night, to close with a flourish these traditional festivities, culminating the week in honor of Ignacio Allende.
