President Andrés Manuel López Obrador confirmed this Friday that five members of the National Guard (GN) are detained while investigations are conducted regarding the multiple homicides recorded last Sunday, June 9, in León, Guanajuato, where two minors and four women were murdered.
During the morning press conference, the president detailed that the GN members are under the custody of the National Defense Secretariat, in accordance with the norms of the Armed Forces.
“We are already working on the investigation, I can tell you that five members of the National Guard are detained but this is in accordance with the norms of the Armed Forces, the investigation that the Prosecutor’s Office is conducting is still pending,” he said.
“I do not want to advance any information until we have the entire investigation, just to tell you that there is no impunity for anyone in this government,” the president added.
The detention of the GN members was carried out after a day following the events, the governor of Guanajuato, Diego Sinhué, detailed that there was information regarding members of that corporation having been at the scene prior to the murder of the six individuals.
Following the statements of the state governor, a video also went viral on social networks in which security cameras captured images showing five individuals, presumably from the National Guard, entering the neighborhood where minutes later two minors and four women were murdered.
