Initiative to promote youth tourism in Guanajuato dusted off

During a session of the Tourism Commission in the State Congress, a proposal was revived to allow young people in Guanajuato to engage in local tourism in an economical and simple way. The initiative, which had been previously proposed, seeks to strengthen knowledge of local tourist destinations among young people and promote their active participation in the sector.

The proposal includes reforms to the Tourism Law for the State of Guanajuato, assigning the management of tourism programs directly to the Secretariat of Tourism and Identity. This approach eliminates the dependence on the Tourism Promotion Fund, allowing for more efficient and specific control over promotion strategies.

A working group will soon discuss the details of a plan designed to encourage young people, who, according to the State Tourism Observatory, are unaware of the cultural and tourist wealth within their reach. Among the highlighted destinations are archaeological zones, magical towns and heritage cities.

Young people do not know their state

Factors such as lack of economic resources and lack of knowledge of local attractions have limited the participation of young people in tourist activities. However, recent studies reveal that 80% of young people in the state expressed interest in traveling during their free time, representing a significant potential to boost domestic tourism.

In addition, the PAN deputy, Aldo Iván Márquez Becerra, celebrated the incorporation of measures focused on sustainability and accessibility, highlighting the importance of building alliances between municipalities and tourism service providers.

This initiative not only seeks to benefit young people, but also to strengthen the economic development of the tourism sector, one of the pillars of the Guanajuato economy. With the support of Congress, it is expected that these measures will translate into a new boost for youth tourism in the state.
