The heavy rain that hit Guanajuato on Thursday afternoon resulted in six downed trees in various neighborhoods and shantytowns across the city, reported Omar Rosas Ojeda, who is supervising the cleanup efforts.

The affected trees were found in the southern part of the city, primarily in the Villas de Guanajuato neighborhood and another in front of the Attorney General’s Office:

One tree in the Valle de San José neighborhood

Two trees in Villas de Guanajuato

One tree in Villa Silao

One tree in Villa San Felipe

One tree in Villa Valle de Santiago

He explained that the trees affected averaged between 5 and 11 meters in height. Authorities indicated that the necessary work was carried out to remove the trees and ensure road safety. An inspection was also carried out by the Department of Traffic and Civil Protection.

Meanwhile, José Félix Pérez, Director of Civil Protection, reported that the rain also caused flooding at a home located on Corona Street in the community of Cuevas. To address the emergency, sewers were opened and pond pumps were used to remove accumulated water from the home.

Municipal authorities assured that they will continue to respond to public reports and will strengthen preventive measures to prevent further damage during the rainy season.
