This is thanks to a multi-sector strategy aligned with industrial and productive clusters, as well as the diversity of its six specialized destinations.

“Guanajuato has always been in the top five in Mexico’s meetings industry. We are accompanied by six destinations with great infrastructure and strength in this industry,” highlighted María Guadalupe Robles León, Secretary of Tourism and Identity, while leading the Guanajuato delegation at IBTM Americas, the most important event for this industry in Latin America.

The state has 10 specialized venues that have positioned it as a national and international benchmark for organizing large-format fairs, congresses, conventions, and exhibitions.

In the last year, the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) segment in Guanajuato represented 12.2% of visitors, with 2,674,000 people, who generated an income of over 6,317,000 pesos.

Each city offers a unique profile: León, the sixth-ranked meeting destination in the country, hosts medical conferences, fairs, and international expositions; Guanajuato City, a World Heritage Site, hosts conferences in a historic and cultural setting; and San Miguel de Allende has become the preferred location for incentive trips and luxury conventions.

Celaya, Irapuato, and Silao complement this offering with sporting, agro-industrial, automotive, and logistics events.

“What makes us unique and different is the service we provide as Guanajuato residents; we love to welcome visitors,” said Robles.

In 2024, Guanajuato welcomed 22 million visitors, with an economic impact exceeding 52 billion pesos. For 2025, the Ministry of Tourism and Identity forecasts growth of at least 10%.

With this projection, Guanajuato not only remains in the top five for meeting tourism in Mexico, but is also emerging as a world-class, competitive destination with a distinctive hallmark: the hospitality of its people.
