Two well-known lawyers were shot and killed near the soccer fields in the Hidalgo del Valle neighborhood of León, Guanajuato.
Litigants Carlos Rojas Domínguez and Oscar Guillermo Pérez Murillo, the latter also a university professor, were victims of armed men riding a motorcycle.
At around 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 20, 2025, the assailants approached the lawyers on León Guzmán Street and shot them at least ten times.
The León, Guanajuato, Labor Lawyers Association, A.C., mourned the loss of its colleague and friend, Oscar Guillermo Pérez Murillo, “jurist, honest man, partner, and founder” of the organization.
In a statement, the León Bar Association strongly regretted and condemned the murder of two colleagues. “These events not only represent an irreparable tragedy for their families and colleagues, but also a direct affront to the rule of law and to society as a whole.”
He demanded that this crime be investigated to the fullest extent of the law, that those responsible be brought to justice, and that this crime not go unpunished.
He called on security and law enforcement institutions to guarantee the free and safe development of the legal profession, which is essential to the democratic life of our country.
The State Attorney General’s Office reported that it has initiated an investigation into the incident.
