The rains that fell on Saturday afternoon and evening caused various damages in municipalities across the state, prompting the mobilization of emergency services and public service departments to respond to citizen reports.
The Municipal Government of San Miguel de Allende reported that three vehicles were damaged in the historic center due to the lifting of a cover on the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) infrastructure between Zacateros and Pila Seca streets. No injuries were reported.
At the intersection of Hernández Macías and Calzada de la Luz streets, a report of a possible sinkhole was received, which will be repaired once weather conditions permit.
Municipal brigades also intervened in the Aurora and La Herradura neighborhoods, where blockages in the sanitary network were reported. In addition, monitoring was maintained at critical points such as the Parroquia area, the Civil Hospital, the Infonavit La Luz neighborhood, and several downtown streets.
In the municipality of Silao, heavy rains lasted for more than two hours, primarily affecting the northern and southeastern areas. Civil Protection reported priority attention in the Estrella neighborhood and the El Faro and La Curva subdivisions.
In the El Faro subdivision, the sandbank placed to contain the rain was knocked down by the current, so crews responded to replace it. A fallen tree was also reported near the Patria field, as well as reports on Pedro Vargas Street and sections of the Trejo highway.
Responsive response efforts included SAPAS, the Preventive Police, Municipal Traffic, the Red Cross, and the Fire Department.
Meanwhile, in the municipality of León, according to the weather forecast, low-pressure channels and the passage of tropical wave number 25 will cause heavy rainfall with very strong rainfall of between 50 and 75 millimeters, as well as lightning and possible hail during the afternoon and evening of August 25.
State and municipal Civil Protection urged the population to follow preventive measures during the rainy season, including:
Avoid crossing rivers, streams, or flooded areas
Do not walk on bridges with flowing water
Keep storm drains clean
Use sandbags to prevent leaks in homes
It was also recalled that emergency reports should be made to 911 and, in the case of San Miguel de Allende, to the SAPASMA number 415-152-4641 for incidents related to drinking water or sewage
