Infobae’s ScribNews artificial intelligence has made a detailed selection of the four most beautiful Magical Towns in Guanajuato. For this evaluation, the system analyzed data from specialized sites, rankings established by the travel community, and expert opinions, discarding subjective criteria and focusing on the documented natural and architectural value of each location.
In fourth place, in ascending order, is Yuriria, a Magical Town that earned its place due to the uniqueness of its artificial lagoon, considered one of the oldest in Mexico and built in the 16th century. This reflecting pool, in addition to being a notable scenic attraction, frames the site’s colonial setting and offers privileged views of the volcano, offering tours that combine history and nature.
The Convent of San Agustín in Yuriria, identifiable by its pink quarry façade and tower, embodies one of the most significant pieces of New Spain sacred art in the region. Additionally, the boardwalk surrounding the lagoon enriches the experience, creating a direct connection between the urban colonial richness and the surrounding aquatic landscapes.
One place higher, in third place, Mineral de Pozos emerges as a distinct option, especially for its past as a mining town and its restored “ghost town” atmosphere.
Mineral de Pozos stands out thanks to the presence of industrial vestiges from the Porfiriato and semi-ruined buildings that create unique settings for exploration. The haciendas, abandoned tunnels, and quarry mansions recall a past of mining prosperity, while the Parish of San Pedro and the Model School add historical value.
Jalpa de Cánovas is in second place, chosen for its balance between nature and typical rural architecture of the Baja California Peninsula. The main attraction of the Pueblo Mágico remains the harmony between the walnut groves, historic canals, and haciendas, along with an urban center of mansions with porches and sloping roofs. The presence of the neo-Gothic temple dedicated to the Virgin of Guadalupe and the proximity of Alameda Park reinforce its historical and cultural importance.
Topping the list is Salvatierra, a town that holds the title of Historic Monument Zone and exemplifies the meaning of the combination of monumental architectural heritage and natural surroundings. Elements such as the historic Batanes Bridge and the Parish of Our Lady of Light are examples of the mastery of stonework and the richness of viceregal art.
