Mauricio Trejo Pureco, mayor of San Miguel de Allende, reported that they are already working on a tourism strategy for next year, which will include supporting vineyards with hail nets to ensure higher harvests. He also announced that the Ferrari Golf Tournament has arrived in the city.
“It’s incredible, but we already have the Italian Cycling Route and now we will have the Ferrari Golf Cup, with a Ferrari on each par three, where the Italian ambassador and the president of the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Mexico will be present. This will generate economic benefits and boost golf tourism, which we must promote,” he shared.
The mayor noted that, after reducing the high-impact crime rate in the municipality, they are now focusing on the 2026 tourism plan, where they will continue to prioritize twinning with foreign cities to build trust in the destination.
“Twinnings are important. I understand that many citizens may think they’re not significant, but they allow us to gain confidence in the destination. San Miguel de Allende cannot lose the trust of tourists, as they are the municipality’s main source of income,” he stated.
Trejo Pureco added that cultural and recreational activities, such as bullfights and music festivals, will be strengthened, as well as municipal support for the vineyards.
“We will continue to promote the grape harvest. This was a very good year; however, hailstorms affected several vineyards. That’s why we will launch a municipal program for the acquisition of hail nets, with the goal of ensuring larger harvests in San Miguel de Allende,” he concluded.
