The countdown is already underway on the cobblestone streets of the “Most Beautiful City in the World.” San Miguel de Allende is preparing to host the first night race of the 2025 OEM Running Circuit, an event that promises to become one of the most iconic on the national athletic calendar.
It will be the 17th race in the circuit organized by the Mexican Editorial Organization (OEM), and it will have a unique feature: its five-kilometer course will take place at dusk, starting promptly at 6:00 p.m. from the esplanade of the Jardín Principal Allende. The colonial heart of the city will be the setting where hundreds of runners will make their way among baroque churches, viceregal mansions, and streets illuminated with warm tones that highlight the World Heritage architecture.
The route—measured, certified, and designed to be accessible to athletes of all levels—will offer a rare sensory experience: running at night in a Historic Center named by Travel + Leisure as the “Best Small City in the World.”
The event will feature four categories: Youth (12–17 years), Open (18–39), Master (40–49), and Master B (50+), for both men and women. Kit pickup—which includes a t-shirt, timing chip, race number, bag, and medal—will take place on December 5th at the COMUDE San Miguel de Allende facilities.
Registration remains open online and at physical locations, with costs ranging from 250 to 350 pesos, depending on the date and availability.
Local sports authorities and the OEM (Organization of Municipal Sports) indicate that the intention is to promote physical exercise in an accessible and attractive environment, while also boosting sports tourism. The race joins a national circuit that has already visited states such as Tabasco, Puebla, Querétaro, and La Laguna, but finds a symbolic setting in San Miguel: a destination where sport blends with art, history, and heritage.
