The theft of at least two vehicles, carried out by armed men in the area surrounding the San Miguel de Allende–Querétaro highway, has raised concern among residents who travel this route daily to reach multiple rural communities. Reports of vehicle theft have also been accompanied by incidents in which cars have been attacked with rocks while traveling along nearby rural roads.
Vehicle thefts and rock attacks on the San Miguel de Allende–Querétaro highway raise public concern
A few days ago, two pickup trucks were stolen on the same night along the road leading to the community of Jalpa, an area whose property values have increased significantly in recent years and where several luxury housing developments are being built.
According to the report, which was confirmed by municipal authorities, the first robbery occurred near the community of Biznaga del Jaral, where a driver was robbed of a white Tahoe pickup truck with U.S. license plates.
Minutes later, in the same area, another driver was robbed of a black-and-gold Ram 1500 pickup truck. In this second incident, the previously stolen Tahoe was allegedly used to commit the crime.
The victims have requested assistance through social media to help locate their vehicles. They reported that at least five armed and masked individuals forced them to stop before taking their vehicles.
The State Attorney General’s Office confirmed both vehicle thefts and announced that the corresponding investigations have already been opened.
In addition to these incidents, a family reported being attacked with rocks by individuals riding motorcycles on the road between the communities of Loma de la Purísima and Corral de Piedras. This road runs alongside the San Miguel de Allende–Querétaro highway, just a short distance past the entrance to Jalpa, on the opposite side.
