Travel + Leisure magazine, one of the most influential travel magazines, awarded San Miguel de Allende first place as the Best City in the World 2025 for the second consecutive year in its prestigious World’s Best Awards. “San Miguel de Allende is one of our strong points.

When we go out into the world to promote Guanajuato, San Miguel is the magnet that attracts more tourists. But it’s also a treasure that we must open more to the world,” declared María Guadalupe Robles León, Secretary of Tourism and Identity (Secturi) of the People’s Government in the State of Guanajuato. This is the second time San Miguel de Allende has achieved first place globally, and it is the only city in the world to also receive recognition from Condé Nast Traveler, another renowned publication, consolidating its international tourism leadership.

“At the same time, we have 46 municipalities with different travel reasons, but we recognize San Miguel’s role as an international destination, and we will continue working together to attract more visitors,” the secretary stated after the announcement.

The soul of the city lives on in its historical and cultural attractions, such as the Parish of San Miguel Arcángel, whose neo-Gothic silhouette dominates the skyline, and the Sanctuary of Jesús Nazareno in Atotonilco, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site and known as the Sistine Chapel of the Americas.
