This was stated after Travel-Leisure magazine awarded San Miguel de Allende the title of the best city in the world in its latest publication this week, an award it had previously received.
In this regard, the Morena representative commented that this is an award for which several cities compete annually, based on ratings from different specialized agencies.
Ricardo Ferro pointed out that San Miguel de Allende is a city rich in traditions and, above all, in its emblematic architecture, which has earned it the title of UNESCO World Heritage City.
“But this is a triumph and an achievement of San Miguel society, of the people of San Miguel Allende, of their cultures, of their traditions. This is what makes San Miguel Allende, and this is why, above all, San Miguel became a World Heritage Site.”
It’s worth remembering that it was on July 7, 2008, that UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization) awarded San Miguel the title of World Heritage City.
Ferro Baeza explained that, regardless of who heads the municipal administrations, the city receives awards every year, so the accolade belongs to the citizens.
“Well, authorities have come and gone, and San Miguel Allende has won awards from different quarters. The award should and does belong to the people of San Miguel.”
