Federal security forces conducted two raids in Guanajuato, where they found a clandestine maquila factory and a counterfeit product assembly plant, as well as a warehouse of counterfeit merchandise.
The operation, led by agents of the Mexican Navy and the Attorney General’s Office (FGR), resulted in the discovery of “counterfeit footwear of various brands; raw materials such as soles, textiles, and footwear components; as well as packaging boxes and various supplies with legends alluding to the aforementioned brands,” federal sources indicated.
The operation, carried out on July 16, took place in two properties in San Francisco del Rincón, Guanajuato, both linked to crimes against industrial property and piracy.
During the searches, civilians allegedly started riots that prevented the counting and estimation of the merchandise found. Therefore, agents from the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime (FEMDO) were deployed to prevent damage.
On the first property, a clandestine maquila and assembly area for counterfeit merchandise was found; while on the second property, a warehouse for finished counterfeit products was found.
